Can this implant integrate?

YES! With these synergistic

Without suggesting that an implant should be placed without some primary stability…

the question is postulated, ”what if it was?”

Why this illustration?

This illustration exaggerates a clinical condition encountered when placing an implant in an immediate extraction site or large bony defect not in intimate contact with the bony socket. It is “suspended” or “floating” surrounded in a mixture of blood and L-PRF.

How would integration be possible?

Recently published advances in two individual biotechnologies lead a group of scientists to investigate just such a scenario.

They reasoned; if an implant with an osteoinductive surface ( OSSEAN® ) was immersed into a super blood clot ( L-PRF ) obtained with Intra-Spin, bone should naturally grow to the implant despite the absence of primary stability and a lack of intimate bone contact.

Research confirms synergetic effect.

The literature referenced in citing #1 gives an in-depth scientific account of the actions that occur during this implant healing scenario; with and without L-PRF and also with and without the OSSEAN® Surface.1

Without OSSEAN® and Without L-PRF

yielded poor bone formation, and no osseointegration.

Without OSSEAN® and with L-PRF yielded

slightly increased bone formation.

With OSSEAN® and without L-PRF

yielded increased bone formation at the implant surface.

With OSSEAN® and with L-PRF

yielded greatest and fastest degree

of osseointegration .

OSSEAN® Surface up-regulates the gene expression.

OSSEAN's fractal, nano-rough structure is ideal for fibrin attachment, platelet deposition and has receptor sites that further encourage cell growth; thus, hastening early osseointegration.1,2

Growth factors promote the healing process.

The macro-gap between implant and socket wall, when filled with the L-PRF, allows for woven bone formation bridging the gap and, also, preventing down-growth of soft tissue at the crestal bone interface. L-PRF's unique fibrin architecture; containing leukocytes, platelets, mesenchymal stem cells, and growth factors, promote the healing process. This is also well documented in the scientific literature.3

Synergy adds; never subtracts.

Alone, L-PRF and OSSEAN® have their own independent powerful influences, assisting the healing process.

However, as the scientific evidence demonstrates, when utilized together, the synergy of L-PRF and OSSEAN® provide a superior pathway for osteogenic cell migration, not previously encountered in implant dentistry.
